Premium vs. Free

Premium services are services that have a price that is being charged to the user which typically are ringtones, wallpapers and videos. However, campaigns used in TV shows such as American Idol introduced the voting platform where users can text in their votes for at the pre-set charge.

Free campaigns are simply campaigns where the user is not being charged for the text request which can include mulit-media (ringtones, wallpaper, videos), coupons, messages, alerts and auto-responders. However, the term "Free" applies to the text service that is being requested. User may still be charged by their mobile carriers for sending or receiving text message depending on their plan.

How does a mobile campaign work?

The front end is quite simple, however there is a verification and approval process that has to be completed in order to confirm that the cell phone user really wants to participate:

  1. A Keyword will be assigned to your campaign
    The keyword can be any word you would like as long it is available. This keyword will be programmed to respond to the requests and campaign that is set up
  2. The Request
    The cell phone user will text the keyword to a our shortcode (similar to a phone number just shorter)
  3. The Trigger
    The request text received by our system will trigger your campaign and our system will determine if this is a premium or free campaign
  4. The Response
    If our system determines that you have a premium campaign meaning your wanting to charge the user for your content on their cell phone bill. Our system will respond with a verification message that includes the terms and price. The message requires the user to respond with YES in order to complete the sale.

    Should the campaign be a free campaign, our system will simply send the requested information to the users handset and the transaction is complete
  5. The completion of the premium campaign
    The User received the verification message where they are required to reply with YES to accept the terms and charges. Our system will then complete the transaction by sending the content and bills the phone carrier.

Please note that your users cell phone carriers may charge an additional fee for text messages and receipt of multi-media content. A lot of users may have an unlimited plan but there are several where text messaging and multi media is not included and the carriers have their own rates.

Mobile Solutions via the Web

We also can integrate your mobile campaign with the web. The process is similar but the requests are initiated via a website. The user will need to have their handset available.

  1. The Web Request
    The user visits the website where they can initiate the transaction. They would select the content and enter their cell phone number and carrier. The request is then sent to our system
  2. The Response
    If it is a premium campaign, our system will send a pin/verification code to the cell phone number submitted.

    If it is a free campaign the content is sent and the transaction is completed
  3. The Verification
    Our system responds to the request with a Pin code that is automatically generated just for your session and is only valid for one-time. The user will have to enter the code in the box to verify the transaction.
  4. The completion of premium transaction
    The use enters the pin code in the verification box on the website and if our system can verify the code (it serves as a permission to charge the cellphone bill) it will complete the transaction and send the content. If it can't verify you will have to start the process over.

The mobile industry is very strict and wants to make sure that users are not charged for any content or services without their dire consent. All campaigns have to be very clear and any opt-out, refund and cancellation policies have to be posted visibly and easy to understand. We do not tolerate any deceptive marketing to entice more sign ups.
